the hour after rain, made visible

a worm up in the wet hour, and not for long
a worm up in the wet hour, and not for long

no smell bar, no hud: the ground looks like the smell instead. drips keep falling under the canopy after the sky has cleared, splash gathers in trodden hollows, and the whole wet window opens when the rain stops — banked against the length of the storm that just passed, so a long grey afternoon buys a long soft evening.

and the worms come up. they surface into the wet, they burrow back down in dirt-brown, and since 1.1.0 the birds come for them: corvids drop in and walk the last stretch the way real crows do, magpies chance it, and the chickens turn up uninvited. snails take the wet hour at their own pace.
