a woven straw skep on a stand, and beekeeping as husbandry rather than automation: no redstone output, no hopper mouth, no readout. you read a skep by the bees at its mouth, by the sound of it, and by the season. wild bees re-home into an empty skep if it stands somewhere they like; campfire smoke from downwind calms them for the harvest.

sting anger and harvest pressure are kept on separate honest books, so a careless week costs you differently from a greedy one. once a spring the colony swarms — caught by an empty skep standing ready, or lost to the wild. no colony ever simply dies of your neglect. with orchard home the blossom is their favourite errand, and the almanac keeps the swarm's date.
