type :black_heart: in chat and the message arrives with the actual heart in it, drawn from apple's emoji set. the names are the ones discord and github taught everyone, so :sob:, :skull:, :sparkles: and :rat: all do what you expect, and a real emoji pasted from your phone gets swapped to the same glyph.

start a word with a colon and a small list opens above the chat box, the way command completion does: tab or click to finish the name. unknown names stay as typed, so 12:30:45 is still a time.

it is a client mod. the server sends nothing; every player in the pack just carries the same 1870 glyphs in their font. the artwork is apple's, which is why the pack stays a thing for the house and never a public release.
