a proper big bell, rung by a rope

the bell in its frame: a headstock beam banded in iron, two hangers, the bronze hung mouth-down between them

vanilla's village bell keeps its raid-warning job untouched; this is a different block entirely, and a different sound. as of 1.2.0 the block is only the frame — a headstock beam run through with iron-banded hangers, no roof and no posts of its own — hung in whatever tower you build around it out of your own blocks. pull the rope from the floor below and build the swing up by hand: the amplitude is honestly capped at 55 degrees, the peal fires on the real crests of the swing, and the whole thing survives a reload mid-ring.

the toll bends downwind for every listener separately when wind is home. the first peal of a world writes itself into the almanac, and the crows scatter once at a bell they have not heard before, then resettle, having decided it is only you again.
