warren
0.1.8wild animals have homes

foxes den, rabbits warren, wolves range from somewhere. small worldgen features, easy to miss on purpose: a burrow mouth where the forest floor meets tree roots, a sandy bank of holes, a shadowed hollow where the cold woods touch stone. no loot inside โ the animals are the contents. the vanilla animals near a home belong to it: they range out by day and turn for home toward dusk, so an animal you follow at sundown leads you somewhere real. in spring the young appear at the mouth of the home, never out of thin air.
and the world remembers what you do near those places. hunt hard beside a den and it feels it โ fewer animals range, none are born โ and a den pressed too hard goes quiet: an empty burrow, holes growing over. nothing is punished: no revenge, no debuffs, no guilt hud. an emptied den is just empty, which is enough. left alone for seasons it recovers, or a new family moves into the old digging.
hunting stays legal and normal โ the mod never stops a hand; it only remembers it. penned and bred animals are vanilla's business, untouched: the warren governs the wild ones only. finding a den on your own land and deciding to leave it be is the intended emotional beat of the whole mod.
