on cold nights, everything warm-blooded breathes fog — you, the cows, the crows — herds puffing out of step with each other, never in lockstep, because lockstep is how you spot a machine. rain and rivers soak you and you drip, sparsely, until a fire dries you fast. freezing water earns exactly one gasp. no damage, no debuff, no HUD, ever: the cold here is something you see and hear, not a bar that empties.

and on cold clear mornings, dawn rime: the world lerps pale for the first hour, snowflake motes hanging over the grass, composed on seasons' own tint seam so the two mods agree about what winter looks like. a wet player's cold breath thickens — the mod's one compound sentence, and it costs nothing to read.

planned, as the family grows: fog and drips drifting downwind, the balefire's warmth radius as this mod's cathedral, the cold spot the barghest leaves, and the late frost that nips the orchard's open blossom.
